I have a confession to make about airline meals. While most curse United Airlines for the “unchanging” “nasty” “disgusting” “tried” breakfast entrée pictured below, it is one of my favorite meals and if I had the chance to order it for home consumption, I would gladly pay for it.
Nothing like chemical-filled sausage, powdered eggs and the cheesy potato surprise to start the day! But I do love it – there is just something about it I cannot replicate at home.
It may not be my United breakfast, but in two German cities airline meals are now available for home delivery. Allyouneed.com has teamed up LSG Sky Chefs to offer delivery of the weekly Lufthansa business class menu – both meat and vegetarian.
The program is called Air Food One and is available only in Cologne and Dusseldorf and runs $11-13 per meal.
Each frozen food pack come ready to heat and eat whenever you crave that authentic air travel dining experience. Home diners have a variety of subscription options and can cancel or change their delivery options at any time.
The program enables LSG Sky Chefs to handle the excess food usually headed to the trash in a new market.
I just cannot imagine this will gain traction, but a pity it is not available in Frankfurt or else I would certainly give it a try!
