United CEO Oscar Munoz penned a beautiful to note to employees concerning the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
Dear United family,
Thanksgiving is a time when we take stock of what we’ve accomplished over the past year and give thanks to all the wonderful people in our lives who’ve helped us along the way.
So, I want take a moment to personally thank all of you, my fellow United family members, for everything you have done to make this year one we can all be proud of.
Thank you for taking care of our customers and one another, for weathering difficult storms and rebuilding our communities in need, and for helping us build a better United Airlines in so many ways.
I can’t tell you how proud I am of all that you have done this year to elevate United’s service to our customers and to the communities we live in. I’ve witnessed how you joined hands and rallied together in the face of an historic series of storms and natural disasters, continuing to deliver stellar operating performance while transporting millions of pounds of supplies to hard hit areas and helping to raise millions of dollars in relief funds. And I’ve marveled at the countless ways you have made United a better, more inclusive and altogether more exciting place to work.
When so many families are travelling to spend time with family and loved ones, this time of year is our time to shine as an airline. So, I also want to thank all of our team members who will be working hard, often far away from home, and doing great things over the holiday season.
In short, of all the things I am grateful for this Thanksgiving, there are two that rise above all. Not only am I deeply grateful for all the countless ways you have contributed to our team, I am also thankful to simply count myself as your colleague.
From my family to all of yours, Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.
A very nice note indeed. No further commentary necessary.
