I’m in LA tonight…the question is for how long. I’m hoping I’ll be able to stay home this week, but I may be on a plane to New York tomorrow, then Hong Kong, then Zurich…maybe even Las Vegas. We’ll see how the week unfolds…
Last week the big story, for me at least, was the mysterious appearance of SWISS First Class award space and its subsequent cancellation of confirmed reservations. You can bet I’ll be following the issue closely this week and bring you all relevant updates. Here’s what I’ve written about the incident:
- Hurry! Aeroplan Allowing SWISS First Class Bookings!
- SWISS First Class Award Space Wide Open
- Booked! Family Trip in SWISS First Class
- Dear Aeroplan, If You Cancel My SWISS First Class Tickets, I Will Sue You
- Let’s Help Aeroplan Take the Moral High Ground (RE: SWISS First Class Awards)
- Aeroplan Issues Statement on Cancelled SWISS First Class Awards
JAL also added surcharges to Emirates awards and Saudi Arabia announced it would open the Kingdom to tourists. Here’s a review of the week’s top stories:
I put Aeroplan (and Air Canada and SWISS) on notice that they cannot just rescind a ticket, especially when it was NOT a “mistake fare”.
While perhaps not more difficult, it is statically easier to gain entrance to Harvard than become a Delta FA.
Air Canada opened a beautiful new lounge in Toronto, but has strictly limited access to it. I argue why mileage and upgrade tickets should NOT be excluded.
