Yesterday I published a comprehensive review of the Park Hyatt Beijing, my first review of the property. It wasn’t my first stay, though. My first stay included a complimentary upgrade to a beautiful suite.
Rather than squeeze it into an already long review, I want to share pictures from my suite upgrade in this separate post. If you’re interested in the hotel’s other amenities, please see my full review.
This first stay goes all the way back to 2011…long before the World of Hyatt. It was January and my brother and I were touring China for the first time, visiting Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai. We began the trip on New Year’s Day, flying from Bangkok to Beijing in Thai First.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I asked a simple question at check-in:
Do you have any upgrades available?
Keep in mind, I only had Platinum status at the time thanks to the Hyatt Visa Credit Card from Chase. Furthermore, my blog was so small at the time I could not have pulled the blogger card even if I wanted to. And for the record, I didn’t on my recent stay either. That’s not something I do.
I just asked.
And the duty manager said, “Yes.”
Without even asking if I may have one, she gave me one. A lovely one at that.
Our Park Suite King contained a beautiful living room, guest restroom, spacious bedroom, and large master bathroom. It was a beautiful room and I would not hesitate to use one of my Globalist Suite upgrades to confirm a suite here.
Looking back over the years, this was my first “real” hotel upgrade and thus will always have a special place in my heart. Again, for more details on the Park Hyatt Beijing check out my full review.
