The late morning is a great time to to visit the Singapore Airlines SilverKris lounge in London Heathrow (LHR) T2. I nearly had it to myself.
The lounge is open daily from 7:15a.m. to 10:00p.m. and I’m sure it fills up before the flights to Singapore. But at 11:30a…empty.
You’ll find the lounge on the second floor, right next to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge.
After checking in, turn right for the business class section and you will find a small seating area followed by a dining area. The first class section, which I did not visit, was to the left.
Keep going you’ll hit the food…a decent buffet. The food is fresh and visually appealing. Noodles are available on request.
The bar is self-serve and coffee is available via machine (here, the Air Canada lounge has Singapore beat).
If you like ice cream, Singapore Sling-flavored ice cream was available (it sounded revolting to me!).
Walk past the buffet and you’ll come to the seating area:
As you can see, the lounge is seating is superb–comfortable and nicely styled. There’s also a children’s play area:
Finally, I checked out the restrooms and showers.
The main male restroom has room for 4-5 people at a time.
Three shower suites are also available:
I was very impressed by this lounge, especially its spaciousness and emptiness just before noon. If you are traveling in Star Alliance business class or hold Star Gold status and find the Lufthansa, Air Canada, or United lounges are crowded, check this one out.
