Zurich Airport is one of my favorite in the world. And it is getting even better if you fly SWISS.
I see ZRH a lot when visiting my in-laws and appreciate that there never seems to be too much traffic or congestion (like night and day compared to my home airport of LAX). I also appreciate how much SWISS has invested in its lounges, whether that be in its business or Senator lounges or its two beautiful first class lounges. Even the terminal restaurants are a nice place to wait for your flight.
But it gets even better. Yesterday, SWISS unveiled a redesigned concourse in Zurich Airport’s Check-in 1. The new style resembles the lounges, with light oakwood and “atmospheric” lamps that offer pleasant light. New group check-in areas make it easier for groups to travel together and the first class check-in area has been totally re-designed.
What I like most, though, are new waiting zones on the northern and southern ends of the concourse. Customers traveling win any class of service and relax or even rest in comfortable armchairs made by Vitra and DeSede, a high-end SWISS furniture company.
I mentioned the new first class check-in facility above. When I last traveled in SWISS First, I checked in for my flight in the same area that business class and Star Gold passengers do. Now, first class passengers have a private entrance and a more luxurious facility with a dedicated security checkpoint that empties directly into the new first class lounge.
It is always a pleasure to fly out of Zurich and the new check-in experience will make the experience even better.
